I am one lucky mom. Sophia is potty trained and Marcus has been sleeping through the night. She still has accidents now and then but thank goodness she is on the right track.
One thing that I didn’t want to do was change 2 diapers at any given time. I can see myself running from infant to toddler to dogs to clean up after them. There was no way! I made having the kids trained a priority. With 3 kids all 2 years apart I had this mindset when Alexander was a toddler and now for Sophia. Potty training takes work. It takes effort and a ton of patience.
On top of that you need to have a toddler who is ready. You can’t force them into training, it will back fire. I tried training Sophia before Marcus was born but she wasn’t ready. Over the last month she has changed her tune. Yesterday she had a dry night time diaper and no accidents throughout the entire day. I am one proud mama.
Toilet training in less than a day was the booked that helped me get the kids trained. You can find it here http://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/0671693808/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1424637045&sr=8-2&keywords=Potty+training&dpPl=1&dpID=51pm2vhyXSL&ref=plSrch&pi=SY200_QL40 It’s old school (be warned really old school, like feminists would be pissed) but it worked for us. Having spent hours reading about charts and stickers etc. what got the kids every time was a reward of seeing me or Johnny act silly and giving them candy. After a couple of days of this the candy stopped but the silly mama/daddy didn’t.
The easiest way I found was to have the trainer run around naked. But be for warned there will be pee accidents. Keep the mop handy and a deep carpet cleaner ready, you will use it.
As for pull up’s they worked at the very early stage of training. Sophia felt like she had underwear on and could pull them down with ease to do her business. The best part was if she had an accident there was nothing to worry about. I bought the ones that give a cold sensation when she pee’d in them… ya that didn’t work, she never cared. Not even as much as a smile or a shrug because of the sensation. Alexander never cared for pull up’s either. They made no difference to him. One thing that pull up’s did help with was number 2 accidents. They have velcrow on the sides that make clean up easy. No leg mud slide here (ewwwww).
I hope this helps. Naked was best followed by a reward (candy) and of course we always had a big celebration after every job well done. 🙂
Until next time.
